Accessibility
We want this site to work for everyone who needs it, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard alone, magnification, or a phone on a slow connection.

What we aim for
We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at level AA. That is the standard UK public bodies are held to. Benzone is a community interest company rather than a public body, so it is not a legal requirement for us, and we are using it anyway because it is the right measure.
What we have tested

- 21 pages, every public page on the site
- Screen widths
- 1440px, 768px and 375px

- No violations at level A or AA
Alongside that we have checked by hand that the site can be operated with a keyboard alone, that focus is always visible, that headings run in a sensible order, that every image carries a description, that form fields have real labels and that error messages say what to do about the problem. Text reflows without sideways scrolling down to 320px, and motion respects the reduced motion setting.
What we have not tested, and what may still be wrong
An automated tool finds perhaps a third of accessibility problems. It can tell you an image has no description. It cannot tell you the description is useless.
So we are not claiming this site is fully accessible. We are saying it passes everything we know how to test. In particular:
- It has not had an independent accessibility audit.
- It has not been tested with real screen reader users, which is the only test that actually settles the question.
- Payments are taken on Stripe's own pages, and their accessibility is theirs rather than ours.
- Any document we publish for download may be less accessible than the pages around it. Ask and we will send the content in another format.

Anything on this site can be provided in another format if that helps: large print, plain text, or read to you over the phone. There is no charge and you do not have to say why you need it.
