Benzone works with children, young people and families, and asks schools, funders and partners to trust us with that. This page sets out how we are constituted, who is accountable, and what you can check for yourself.

A community interest company is a business with a social purpose. It is not a charity, and we do not describe ourselves as one.
What it does have is an asset lock. Our assets and any surplus are locked to community benefit and cannot be distributed to private shareholders. Because we are limited by guarantee, there are no shares and no dividends. Money that comes in goes back into the work.
One consequence worth stating plainly: a CIC cannot claim Gift Aid. If you donate, we do not add anything to your gift, and we will never imply otherwise.
Safeguarding
Everyone delivering a Benzone session works to our safeguarding policy. The board is accountable for it, and it is reviewed rather than written once and filed.
Our safeguarding page explains our commitment and how to raise a concern. It does not publish our operational procedures, because doing so would tell anyone intending harm exactly how we respond.

The current directors are named on our Companies House record, which is the authoritative list. We publish their names and roles here with photographs and short biographies once each director has agreed to appear, rather than reproducing register entries without asking them.
Policies and insurance
We hold the policies our delivery requires, including safeguarding, health and safety, equal opportunities and data protection.
Schools and commissioners usually want to see these alongside our insurance certificate as part of due diligence. Ask and we will send the current versions.

A logo on a website implies an endorsement, and sometimes a level of funding, that may not be true. We would rather this section stay short.
